The Gear That Kicked it Off
Every product starts with a problem. For us, that problem was gear organization. Like many climbers, we found ourselves constantly sorting through piles of carabiners, belay devices, slings, cordelette, and other climbing equipment. Gear bins became tangled, packs became cluttered, and finding the right piece of equipment often took longer than it should have. There had to be a better way.
Building a Better Gear Organizer
The first versions of what would eventually become the Original Jellyfish Organizer were never intended to become a product. They were simply solutions for our own climbing gear. Using 3D printers, we began experimenting with different designs that would allow us to organize equipment while remaining compact enough to pack efficiently for climbing trips. Some designs worked well. Others didn’t. Over time, we refined the concept and started developing what would eventually become the Jellyfish Organizer.
Learning Through Prototypes
Like most product development, the process involved a lot of trial and error. Our earliest organizers were printed using PETG. While the material offered several advantages, we found that it wasn’t durable enough for the way we wanted to use the product. Next, we experimented with carbon fiber reinforced nylon. It provided excellent strength but ultimately proved too rigid for the functionality we envisioned. After extensive testing and refinement, we began exploring TPU. The flexibility, durability, and resilience of the material opened new possibilities and helped shape the design into what it is today. Every iteration taught us something new.
When Friends Started Asking for Their Own
As we continued using the organizers ourselves, something unexpected happened. Friends started asking for them; Then their friends started asking. Soon, more and more climbers wanted organizers for their own gear. What began as a personal solution was clearly solving a problem for others as well. The feedback reinforced what we had suspected from the beginning: people needed a simple, effective way to organize climbing gear.
Answering the Call
Eventually, we realized this wasn’t just a project anymore. There was a genuine need within the climbing community for better gear organization solutions. Rather than keeping the idea to ourselves, we decided to share it with the community that inspired it. That’s how Father Climb was born.
The Original Jellyfish Organizer
Today, the Original Jellyfish Organizer helps climbers, mountaineers, rope rescue teams, rope access technicians, SAR teams, and other rope professionals keep their equipment organized and accessible. Its purpose is simple: Help people spend less time managing gear and more time focusing on the climb, the mission, or the work in front of them. The Original Jellyfish Organizer was created by climbers who faced the same challenges as the people who use it today. And while this is only the beginning for Father Climb, that commitment remains unchanged: build practical gear solutions that solve real-world problems.
Because when your gear is organized, you can focus on what matters most.
